Mrs. Marylise Lebranchu, former Minister, President of Morlaix District Council, expressed her agreement of the sentiments of the welcoming speeches addressed to all the competitors, those accompanying them and those who about to enjoy the games of peace in Brittany.
She also thanked the organisers of this great Celtic Watersport Festival, whose private and public sponsors made the Festival possible.
She reminded everyone :
- Once again this year, we have all suffered from violence in the world and taken different positions, collectively or individually, in the face of possible solutions. But our links have allowed us to say that our cultural heritage makes us receptive to other cultures.
- Celts have enhanced the values of this shared identity. Here, through sport and celebrations, we can reaffirm together that culture, recognized and valued, is the best weapon against all dangers to communities whether our own, of residents from elsewhere or of those living further afield. Brittany has paid dearly for her strength and pride and is today proud to show guests its unshakeable willingness to be part of France, Europe and the world without giving up anything of itself but by giving everything, if necessary, to others for a shared peace and freedom.
She concluded by asserting that this Inter-celtic gathering will therefore be great.
